Спасибо большое, zaichik! It does seem like everyone and their mother is now in Portugal - all the concerts, events, businesses springing up etc. God, to be in a cafe with style and syrniki of a certain level! Sometimes I think it’s all a simulation that I dreamed up and there is nothing outside this continent. It’s been too long without travel.
my impression was that while there were some wonderful restaurants, the overall cuisine outside auteur was less exciting than you would find in Barcelona, for instance. Coffee after Italy is quite whatever in all of them, I think :) not meaning evolved specialized coffee places with chemex and whatnot, but random spots all over the place.
Perhaps not exciting but generally good. Seafood tends to be of high quality.Okay baccalau , I can see you not necessarily liking. I see saw on it. I’ve liked and I’ve hated it. My wife hates it. Good fresh sardines. The best I’ve had are in Portugal and Croatia.Good dessert if you like custard tarts.Good variations on squid and octopus. I could go on.(and get even more boring).
We only spent three days in Lisbon but I wished it was much longer. What a charming city. Agree on the food. Coffee was better than US. I’d choose Lisbon over Paris any day.
Your travel writing is a joy to read.
Lisbon remains a beauty but it's no longer unaware of that fact.
Also, so many русскоговоря́щие have moved since 2022 that there's a pretty intense competition for which cafe has the best syrniki.

Thoroughly enjoyed this! The parsley in the teeth- I shan’t forget this metaphor anytime soon ;)
Thank you!
Disagree on food and coffee.I quite like Portuguese food which now fairly common in New Jersey. Its better in Portugal.
